Palliyoda Seva Sangham
The Palliyoda Seva Sangham is an organization closely associated with the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple in Kerala. This organization plays a vital role in the organization and conduct of the annual snake boat races, known as Vallamkali, held during the Onam festival. These boat races are a significant cultural and religious event linked to the legends of the Mahabharata.
The Palliyoda Seva Sangham oversees the preparation and maintenance of the traditional snake boats, known as Palliyodams. These boats are elaborately decorated and symbolize the celestial boat of Lord Krishna. The Sangham ensures that each boat is in top condition and coordinates the participation of various teams in the races. The organization also plays a role in the Vallasadya, a grand feast offered to the rowers of the snake boats as part of the temple's rituals.
Dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the region, the Palliyoda Seva Sangham's activities are integral to the community's religious and social life, promoting unity and devotion among the participants and spectators.
